Week 39 – Bringing Science, Service, and Sikh Identity Together
Catch-up entry for 2026-10-14; written in October 2026. Reflections may refer to earlier experiences.
The title of this website, “Smiles, Science & Service,” brings together interests that I want to keep connected. Dentistry gives me a direction, science gives me questions, and service gives me a reason to think about who benefits from what I learn.
More Than Separate Interests
I do not want my identity and my career goals to feel like separate parts of my life. As a Sikh student interested in healthcare, I want to keep asking how my values can shape the way I learn and eventually work.
For me, seva is a meaningful starting point for that reflection. It encourages me to think about contribution, including the everyday work that helps a community function.
Looking Ahead
I am also interested in what happens when people with different skills come together. A student, a healthcare professional, an artist, and someone working in technology may approach a problem differently. I want to stay open to learning across those differences.
This week’s entry is about direction rather than a finished achievement. I am still figuring out what my contribution will look like. I want to build a future where curiosity, Sikh identity, and care for others can grow together.
